# Workspace settings

> A tour of every Hive settings page — account, workspace, user management and products — with who can change each one and what it controls.

Settings is where you shape Hive for yourself and for your whole workspace. Open it from the workspace menu (**Workspace settings**) or go to `/settings`. Settings replaces the sidebar with its own navigation, grouped into four sections.

<Note>
  Pages marked **Admin only** are hidden from, and unreachable by, anyone who is not an Owner or Admin. Other pages are visible to everyone; some are read-only unless you are an Owner or Admin.
</Note>

## Account

Personal settings that apply only to you.

| **Custom Instructions** | Standing instructions Hive follows in your chats. |
| **Memory** | Your personal saved memories and whether Hive may use them. See [Personal memory](/brain/personal-memory). |
| **Notifications** | Which in-app notifications you see in the bell. Hive does not send email or push notifications. |

## Workspace

Settings that apply to everyone in the workspace.

| **Sidebar links** | Everyone (change: Owner/Admin) | Shortcuts shown at the bottom of everyone's sidebar. |
| **Data sharing** | Admin only | Whether Hive may use this workspace's chat and workflow data to improve the product. Off unless you turn it on. See [Data protection](/security/data-protection). |

## User management

| Page | Access | What it controls |
| - | - | - |
| **Members** | Admin only | Invite, change and remove members. See [Team and workspace](/admin/team-and-workspace). |
| **Groups** | Everyone | Groups of members you can grant product access to. |
| **Roles** | Admin only | What each role can see and do. See [Roles and permissions](/admin/roles-and-permissions). |

## Products

Per-product settings. Most product pages include a **Who can use this product?** control:

* **Everyone in this workspace**,
* **Selected members and groups**, or
* **Nobody**.

As the page itself notes, changing this does not grant organisation roles or access to private resources — it only decides who sees the product.

| Page | What it controls |
| - | - |
| **Chat** | Access to Ask Hive. |
| **Agents** | Access to [Agent Studio](/agents/agent-studio). |
| **Skills** | Reusable skills available to chats and agents. |
| **Workflows** | Access to [Workflows](/workflows/workflow-builder). |
| **Scheduled tasks** (Admin only) | Access to [Scheduled tasks](/library/scheduled-tasks). |
| **Integrations** (Admin only) | Workspace-level connector settings. See [Integrations overview](/integrations/overview). |
| **Governance** (Admin only) | The **Policy & autonomy** page: kill switch, autonomy ladder, blast radius and spend caps. See [Safety and control](/admin/safety-and-control). |
| **Company knowledge** | Workspace knowledge sources for the Business Brain. |
| **Chat capabilities** | Which Ask tools (web search, document creation and so on) are available. |
| **Chat disclaimer** | A notice shown to members in chat. |
| **New chat info boxes** | Tips shown on a new chat. |
| **Sharing disclaimer** | A notice shown when someone shares a chat. |
| **Chat sharing** | Whether chats can be shared. |
| **Chat memory** | **Allow chat memory** — whether earlier turns of a conversation are sent with each new message. On by default. |

## Settings worth reviewing first

When you set up a new workspace, an Owner or Admin should look at these early:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Governance">
    Confirm the autonomy levels and spend caps match your appetite for risk. Everything starts conservative.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Models">
    Restrict the model list if your organisation has approved only certain AI providers. An empty allow-list means no restriction.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Data sharing">
    Decide whether to help improve Hive with this workspace's data. It stays off unless you turn it on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Products and access">
    Limit Agents, Workflows or the Brain to the people who should use them during rollout.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Billing">
    Choose seats and plan layers before the trial ends. See [Trial and payments](/admin/trial-and-payments).
  </Step>
</Steps>
