# Quickstart: get value from Hive in your first hour

> Sign up, create a workspace, connect your first tool, ask your first question and review your first signal in Hive — step by step.

This guide takes you from sign-up to your first cited answer and your first signal. It takes
about fifteen minutes, plus however long your first tool takes to sync.

<Info>
  New workspaces start a **14-day trial** with £5 of model credit for each active member. No card
  is needed. See [Trial and payments](/admin/trial-and-payments).
</Info>

## Before you start

* You need a work email address.
* To connect a tool, you need an account in that tool with permission to authorise apps. For
  some tools (for example Microsoft 365 or Sage 200) that means an administrator role on the
  tool's side.
* The person who creates the workspace becomes its **Owner**.

## 1. Sign up and create your workspace

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Hive">
    Go to [app.get-hive.ai](https://app.get-hive.ai) and choose **Sign up**. Sign in with the
    method your workspace allows.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create or join a workspace">
    A workspace is your company's private space in Hive. If a colleague invited you, accept the
    invite and you land in their workspace. Otherwise create a new one from the workspace menu:
    **Switch workspace → New workspace**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Personalise Hive">
    Owners and admins see a short setup: **Welcome**, then **Website** — enter your company
    website so Hive can seed the Business Brain with public facts and recommend connectors — then
    a five-stop guided tour. Details in [Set up your workspace](/get-started/set-up-your-workspace).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## 2. Connect your first tool

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Integrations">
    Choose **Integrations** in the sidebar, then **Add integration**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a tool and authorise">
    Choose a tool — a good first choice is the one where work most often slips: your inbox
    (Gmail or Outlook), your accounting system (Xero, QuickBooks) or your CRM (HubSpot). Sign in
    and approve access in the provider's own window.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let it sync">
    Hive runs a first sync straight away, then keeps reading on its regular cycle. The account
    starts on **Read**: Hive can search and summarise, and nothing leaves Hive.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Connect one tool well before connecting ten. You will learn faster what Hive raises and how to
  tune it. See [Connect an app](/integrations/connect-an-app).
</Tip>

## 3. Ask your first question

Choose **New chat** in the sidebar (or open [app.get-hive.ai](https://app.get-hive.ai) — Ask Hive
is the home screen) and ask something only your tools can answer:

* "Which invoices are more than 30 days overdue?"
* "Summarise the last month of emails with our biggest client."
* "Which deals have not moved stage in two weeks?"

Hive answers with citations you can open. If a connected tool could not be reached, the answer
says so: **Live sources were not checked**. See [Ask Hive](/ask/ask-hive).

## 4. Review your first signal

Open **Signals**. Hive checks connected tools on an hourly loop; an admin can start a run at once
with **Run loop now**. Each signal shows what Hive found, why it matters and a proposed next step.

* **Act on this** asks Hive to prepare a plan and come back to you.
* **Snooze** hides it for a while — it comes back.
* **Dismiss** asks why, and Hive changes what it raises next.

An empty feed is not an all-clear. The **Coverage** tab shows what Hive is actually watching for
each tool. See [Triage signals](/signals/triage-signals) and [Coverage](/signals/coverage).

## 5. Approve your first action

When Hive proposes an action — a reminder email, a CRM update — it shows **What happens next**,
the message it would send, and the risk and evidence. Choose **Approve & run now**, **Decide
later** or **Do not run**. Nothing runs until you approve it, and every action leaves a receipt in
the audit log. See [Review and approve](/approvals/review-and-approve).

## 6. Invite your team

Hive gets more useful with more of the people who do the work. Owners and admins open
**Settings → Members → Invite people**, enter an email and choose an access level. See
[Team and workspace](/admin/team-and-workspace) and [Roles and permissions](/admin/roles-and-permissions).
