# Set up your Hive workspace

> Create a Hive workspace, start the 14-day trial, personalise Hive from your website, take the guided tour, invite teammates and connect your first tool.

This page covers everything an owner or admin does in a new workspace: sign-up, the trial,
onboarding, invitations and the first connections. If you just want the fastest path, follow the
[Quickstart](/get-started/quickstart).

## Sign up

Hive uses a hosted sign-in on its own domain. Go to [app.get-hive.ai](https://app.get-hive.ai),
choose **Sign up**, and use a sign-in method your organisation allows. After signing in you come
back to Hive's home screen, Ask Hive.

## Create your workspace

A **workspace** is your company's private space in Hive: its members, connections, Brain,
signals, workflows and billing. Data never crosses between workspaces.

* If a colleague invited you, accepting the invite puts you straight into their workspace.
* To create a new workspace, open the workspace menu and choose **Switch workspace → New
  workspace**.
* The person who creates the workspace becomes its **Owner**.

You can belong to more than one workspace and switch between them from the workspace menu.

<Note>
  If you see **Waiting for an administrator**, your membership needs to be reviewed before you can
  sign in. **Your access to this workspace has ended** means an administrator removed you. Ask a
  workspace owner or admin in either case.
</Note>

## Your 14-day trial

Every new workspace starts a **14-day trial**:

* **£5 of model credit for each active member**, pooled for the workspace.
* **No card required**, and nothing is created in the payment system during the trial.
* The trial cannot be restarted or extended by re-creating it.

When the trial ends, Hive shows **Your trial has ended**. Your data is kept; owners and admins
subscribe from **Billing** to restore access. Members without billing rights are asked to contact
an admin. See [Trial and payments](/admin/trial-and-payments) and
[Billing and plans](/admin/billing-and-plans).

## Onboarding

Owners and admins see a short first-run setup the first time they open a new workspace.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Welcome">
    **Welcome to Hive** explains what Hive will set up: a tour of every core module, useful
    context built from your public website, and personalised connector recommendations. Choose
    **Personalize Hive**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Website">
    Answer **What is your primary company website?** Hive researches it to understand your
    company, seed low-trust context in the Business Brain, and recommend the connectors most
    relevant to you. Research continues in the background while you tour. Choose **Start guided
    tour**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Guided tour">
    A five-stop tour on real product pages, with **Back**, **Next** and **Finish tour**:

    1. **Ask Hive** — ask questions across your connected business systems.
    2. **Business Brain** — see what Hive knows about your business.
    3. **Signals** — catch risks and opportunities before anyone asks.
    4. **Channels** — choose where Hive communicates with your team.
    5. **Connectors** — connect the systems that make Hive useful.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  Website findings start as **untrusted** context. They help Hive understand your business, but
  they are weighted below facts from your own systems and never authorise anything on their own.
  See [Business Brain](/brain/business-brain).
</Info>

## Invite your team

Only **Owners** and **Admins** can invite people.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Members">
    Choose **Invite users** in the workspace menu, or go to **Settings → Members**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite people">
    Choose **Invite people**, enter a work email (for example `name@company.com`) and pick an
    **Access level**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Track invitations">
    Invited people show as **invited** until they accept, then **active**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Pick the least access each person needs. You cannot invite someone at a role higher than your
own. See [Roles and permissions](/admin/roles-and-permissions).

| Role | Typical person |
| - | - |
| **Owner** | Usually the founder; full control |
| **Admin** | Runs the workspace: members, connectors, policy, billing |
| **Department lead** | Runs a department; approves up to B3 |
| **Operator** | Does the work; approves up to B2 |
| **Analyst** | Read-only |

## Connect your first tools

Open **Integrations → Add integration** and connect the tools where work most often slips.
Personal accounts need the provider enabled for the workspace first — when an admin connects a
provider, it is enabled for everyone. Every account starts on **Read**. See
[Connect an app](/integrations/connect-an-app) and
[Accounts and autonomy](/integrations/accounts-and-autonomy).

If your team works in Slack or Microsoft Teams, an admin can also install Hive there so people can
ask questions from chat. See [Slack and Teams](/integrations/slack-and-teams).

## The Get Started checklist

Everyone has a **Get Started** checklist under **Settings → Account → Get Started**. Tasks are grouped by area — Set-up workspace (logo, company description, inviting colleagues and more), then Chat, Agents, Integrations, Skills, Scheduled tasks, Library, Projects, the Prompt Library and Workflows — and many of them earn points. Below them, **Initial workspace setup** records whether Hive has your company website and whether the guided tour is finished. Admins can
turn the checklist on or off under **Settings → Workspace → User onboarding**.

## Set your guardrails

Before you give Hive any autonomy, owners and admins should review **Settings → Products →
Governance** (the Policy & autonomy page): the per-action autonomy ladder, money guardrails and
the kill switch. Hive starts cautious; you decide when it may do more. See
[Safety and control](/admin/safety-and-control).
