# AI for operations and leadership: one view of what needs attention

> How founders, COOs and operations leads use Hive to see what is slipping across departments, delegate with approvals, and prove value with receipts.

Leaders usually find out something slipped when it's already a problem: the client who churned, the invoice written off, the deal lost to silence. Hive gives you one place to see what needs attention across every department's tools. Each item comes with evidence and a proposed next step, and every action taken on your behalf leaves a receipt.

## What leaders get

* **One attention centre.** The [Signals](/signals/overview) page ranks what needs a decision across finance, sales, support and engineering. Anything that's already handled or snoozed stays out of your way.
* **Honest coverage.** The [Coverage](/signals/coverage) tab shows what Hive is and isn't watching, so a quiet feed is never mistaken for an all-clear.
* **Delegation with guardrails.** Decide which roles can approve which kinds of action, set spend caps, and let routine work run only after it has earned trust.
* **Receipts.** The [audit log](/approvals/audit-log) traces every action from signal to plan to decision to result.

## Ask across the whole business

Ask Hive is the home screen. Ask questions that used to need three people and four tools:

* *What are the biggest risks across finance, sales and support this week?*
* *Which clients are both overdue on invoices and waiting on a reply from us?*
* *Summarise last month's P\&L and compare it with the month before.*
* *Build a slide deck summarising Q3 pipeline for the board.*
* *Create a spreadsheet of every open renewal with owner and value.*

Ask can search your Business Brain and the web, create documents, presentations and spreadsheets, and visualise data. It cites its sources, and it tells you when it couldn't check a live source. See [Ask Hive](/ask/ask-hive) and [Tools and modes](/ask/tools-and-modes).

## Automate across departments

Use workflows for repeatable processes that cross team boundaries:

| Process | Start from | Tools |
| - | - | - |
| Client onboarding | **New Client Onboarding** | Outlook |
| Morning collections run | **Fee Reminder** | Xero, Outlook |
| Weekly renewal prep | **Renewal Scout** | HubSpot, Outlook |
| Meeting follow-through | **Meeting to Tasks** | Jira, Outlook |
| Support triage | **Ticket Triage** | Zendesk |

Or describe what you want on the workflow **+ Describe** tab, and the workflow assistant drafts it for you to review. See [Workflow templates](/workflows/templates) and [Workflow assistant](/workflows/workflow-assistant).

## Delegate safely: earned autonomy

Hive doesn't ask you to trust it on day one. Every kind of action sits on a ladder, and moves up only when you allow it:

| Rung | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Shadow** | Hive simulates the action without doing it, proving what it would have done. |
| **Suggest** | Hive proposes; a person decides. |
| **Approve each** | Hive prepares the action; a person approves each one. |
| **Auto in limits** | Hive acts on its own within caps and confidence thresholds. |
| **Autonomous** | Hive acts on its own for this action type. |

Money, legal and irreversible actions (B4) always ask first, whatever the rung. When your team approves the same kind of suggestion three times within 30 days, Hive offers to automate it. Accepted automations start in shadow and are capped at **Auto in limits**. See [Autonomy and blast radius](/approvals/autonomy-and-blast-radius).

<Note>
Some workspaces taking part in a Hive pilot have autonomy increases frozen for the duration of the pilot.
</Note>

## Controls you'll want as the owner

* **Roles:** Owner, Admin, Department lead, Operator and Analyst, each with a ceiling on the risk it can approve. See [Roles and permissions](/admin/roles-and-permissions).
* **Spend caps:** a per-action cap and a daily cap on money actions. The defaults are £5,000 and £25,000.
* **Kill switch:** halts every autonomous action and approval, company-wide, until you resume. See [Safety and control](/admin/safety-and-control).
* **Product access:** show or hide Agent Studio, Workflows and Company knowledge (the Business Brain) in the sidebar, and limit who can use them to selected members and groups. Hiding a product doesn't stop anything already running. See [Workspace settings](/admin/workspace-settings).
* **Predictable pricing:** seats with included credits, plus run allowances. See [Billing and plans](/admin/billing-and-plans).
