# Use cases: catch what slips in every team, with a human in control

> See how finance, accounting firms, sales, support, engineering and leadership teams use Hive to catch slipping work and act on it with approvals.

Every team loses things between tools: an invoice nobody chased, a client email that sat unanswered, a deal stuck in a stage, a ticket assigned and forgotten. Hive connects to the tools you already use and watches for those moments. It explains what it found and prepares the next step. Your team approves before anything leaves the building.

These pages show what that looks like team by team, using only features Hive has today.

## How Hive helps, whatever your team

<Steps>
  <Step title="Connect your tools, read-only">
    Connect the tools you already run, such as Xero, Stripe, HubSpot, Gmail, Outlook, Jira, GitHub and Zendesk. New connections start on **Read**, so Hive only reads and summarises. Nothing moves and nothing migrates.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Hive raises signals">
    Hive runs an hourly loop that watches for work at risk of being missed and raises it as a **signal**. Each signal carries its evidence, why it matters, and a proposed next step.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your team approves">
    Proposed actions arrive for review with their blast radius and evidence. Choose **Approve & run now**, **Decide later** or **Do not run**. Every action leaves a receipt in the audit log.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Automate the routine">
    Turn repeat work into [workflows](/workflows/workflow-builder) and [agents](/agents/agent-studio). Hive earns more autonomy only after a safe track record, within the limits you set.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What Hive can catch today

Hive raises signals from several sources. What you see depends on the tools you connect and how your workspace is set up.

| Source | What it catches |
| - | - |
| **Gmail and Outlook** | Emails awaiting your reply, and conversations that have gone quiet on the other side. |
| **Stripe** | Invoices failing automatic collection, overdue sent invoices, and disputes that need a response. |
| **Xero** | Authorised invoices that need collection. |
| **HubSpot** | Deals in the default pipeline that need attention. |
| **GitHub and Jira** | Work assigned to you that hasn't moved in 14 days. |
| **Any connected tool** | Metrics Hive proposes to monitor for your tools, checked against your usual levels. |
| **Incoming webhooks** | Events your other systems send, such as a proposal won or a client created. |

<Note>
  Some connector-specific detectors (for example Stripe and Xero invoice collection, HubSpot deal lifecycle, and GitHub and Jira stale work) are switched on per workspace. If you don't see them, [contact support](/help/support). Read [Signals overview](/signals/overview) and [Coverage](/signals/coverage) to see what Hive is watching for you.
</Note>

## Built-in workflow templates

Start from a template and adjust it in the [workflow builder](/workflows/workflow-builder):

| Template | What it does | Team |
| - | - | - |
| **New Client Onboarding** | Drafts a welcome pack and welcome email when a signed engagement letter arrives. | Client ops |
| **Email Keeper** | Reads new Outlook mail hourly, flags anything unusual and drafts replies. | Client ops |
| **Fee Reminder** | Finds overdue Xero invoices every morning and sends reminders. | Finance |
| **Meeting to Tasks** | Turns a meeting transcript into Jira issues and a follow-up draft. | Operations |
| **Ticket Triage** | Reads new Zendesk tickets hourly, tags urgency and alerts the team. | Support |
| **Website Summariser** | Researches a company's website and drafts a summary. | Growth |
| **Renewal Scout** | Finds upcoming HubSpot renewals weekly and drafts renewal notes. | Operations |

See [Workflow templates](/workflows/templates) for the details of each.

## Safe by design

* **Read first.** New connections can't act until an admin raises their autonomy.
* **Approvals.** External and hard-to-reverse actions wait for a person with the right role.
* **Kill switch.** One switch halts every autonomous action and approval, company-wide.
* **Receipts.** Every action traces back from the signal to the plan, the decision and the result.
